Born and raised by their loving and selfless parents, a Mexican-American father and a Spanish-Arapaho Indian mother, in the historical and culturally rich town of Gallup, New Mexico, Shawndey Michael and Tawnya Monique Gomez have quietly emerged in the Pop / R & B music industry into the beautiful identical twins known today as Dey & Nite.
For Shawndey and Tawnya, the musical interests became evident early in life and were quickly recognized by their parents. These soon to be pop stars began playing the piano at the tender age of nine. By the age of twelve, the twin duo began utilizing their vocal abilities & absorbed their first influences from God by avidly participating in church & choir. It was at the age of fourteen when the young talents composed their first song, ?Baby Never Leave Me?. That composition ignited the spark of the flame that continues to burn today setting forth the glow that illustrates their love and passion for writing & performing.
Shawndey & Tawnya grew up listening to a variety of music that helped to mold them into the singers / songwriters they have become today. Jazz and classical were the first genres of music that the girls were introduced to by their father. Over the years, the twin duo has been inspired by some of the greatest musical icons in recent history. Musical sensations such as Michael Jackson, DeBarge, The Beatles, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder and Maxwell have contributed to providing the Gomez twins a well diversified musical background. Like most aspiring artists, the struggle, search and sacrifice to establish themselves as legitimate artists has been long endured.
